Disrupted Public Services

The war on Tigray has destroyed vital infrastructure and disrupted basic public services, including education, healthcare, banking, security, transportation, etc. These disruptions were a direct cause of the indiscriminate shelling and bombardments, drone attacks, looting, and the intentional destruction of infrastructure by invading forces. The Federal Government has exacerbated the disruption by imposing a total lockdown and communications blackout on the region. Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) had reported on March 15, 2021, that only 17% of Tigray’s health system is functional. The total communications blackout and security challenges have made it difficult to collect evidence.
